The Emergency Medicine Department of Burjeel Medical City (BMC), Abu Dhabi, provides multidisciplinary critical care to patients suffering from medical emergencies and traumatic injuries. The department operates in tandem with round-the-clock ancillary subspecialty services for the swift treatment of patients in critical conditions. An American Board-certified consultant leads the Emergency Medicine Department, commanding a team of 24/7 on-call general practitioners and specialists that deliver infallible emergency healthcare. The emergency department has state-of-the-art facilities prepared to handle all emergency eventualities. A dedicated trauma resuscitation bay deals with major trauma cases. A communicable disease zone separates immunocompromised patients from isolation rooms and a decontamination room that disinfects and sterilizes the patients before they move on to the operating rooms. BMC’s emergency medicine department regularly holds emergency drills as a part of their disaster preparedness protocols that extensively train the entire hospital staff in emergency response. This guarantees that safe, efficient, and outstanding emergency care can always be found at Burjeel Medical City, even in times of crisis. The emergency department consists of two sub-departments: the adult emergency department and the pediatric emergency department. Each sub-department is led by emergency specialists who oversee every case that passes through their department. Their final seal of approval ensures that our patients receive the same standard of quality healthcare. The Adult Emergency Department is affiliated with our Obstetrics and Gynecology Department. This means obstetric and gynecology general practitioners are always available in the emergency department. Any obstetrics and gynecology-related emergency is handled directly by its specialists and practitioners. This way, the patient receives the best possible care immediately and ensures privacy. The Pediatric Emergency Department, affiliated with BMC’s Department of Pediatrics, is the crown jewel of emergency medicine. With pediatric specialist-led consulting rooms, any case that comes to our department is attended to immediately by the on-call specialists. In addition to that, this department features a friendly, lively, and vibrant environment that makes our little patients feel right at home. Burjeel Medical City Abu Dhabi is the sole emergency healthcare referral hospital for the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) World Senior and Junior Championships, as well as the sole emergency healthcare referral hospital for Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup 2019. The hospital also serves as an exclusive emergency response for monthly UAE Warriors MMA events.
