Pediatric surgery is a subspecialty of surgery involving the surgery of fetuses, infants, children, and adolescents. As pediatric surgeons, we are primarily concerned with the diagnosis, preoperative, and postoperative management of surgical problems in children and newborns. Recognizing and correcting these problems surgically will ensure the “good quality of life” their parents are hoping for. The Division of Pediatric Surgery at Burjeel Medical City (BMC) understands the special needs of children. It is renowned for its unique surgical expertise and skills, as well as research, which is targeted at developing new techniques and medicines that make surgery both safe and effective. Our expert faculty and staff are committed to delivering comprehensive and compassionate family-centered care, conducting innovative medical research, and providing the best for children. Our services as a tertiary hospital have extended to treating patients referred to us from other hospitals within the UAE as well as from nearby Gulf countries. With our advanced neonatal intensive care unit, we are managing to care for very sick neonates with surgical problems. To continuously improve our services to meet international standards, we are publishing our clinical data on a yearly basis to compare it with the best pediatric surgery practices from all over the world. From taking care of patients to making discoveries, we are always there for kids.
