Dr. Omar Layth Qassid is a Consultant Anatomic Pathology with over 12 years of experience in busy breast screening units in London and the East Midlands. He obtained his MBCHB from Iraq in 2005. Following the completion of his histopathology training in prestigious centers in London in 2015, he has been practicing as a consultant pathologist in Leicester and Northamptonshire hospitals. He has also played key roles as clinical director of Pathology, Hematology, and Oncology and the lead breast pathologist. Dr. Qassid is a fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists in London and an international fellow of the American College of Pathologists. He currently serves as the Royal College of Pathologists’ associate international regional advisor for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). He has been the lead for breast multi-disciplinary team of Kettering. Academically, Dr. Qassid is an honorary senior lecturer in cancer studies and has also written several publications and journals under his credit. His main areas of interest are skin pathology, digital pathology, teaching, and training; and he is the winner of the prestigious achievement award by the Royal College of Pathologists in 2022 for his work in digital training under the ‘iHistopathology’ channel.
