Biography

Dr. Abdul Rahim Ibrahim Ismail Al Suhaili’ s professional qualifications have been globally acquired. In addition to an MB, Ch.B., from the School of Medicine, Egypt, he holds an M.Sc. from the University of London, UK, a European Board qualification in Nuclear Medicine from Austria and another advanced qualification in the subject from the Asian School of Nuclear Medicine, Japan. He is a certified Member of Medical Associations of the UAE, Austria, USA, UK, Korea, and Australia. He is the Chairman of the Emirates Osteoporosis Society (EOS) and the Ex-President of the Pan Arab Osteoporosis Society (PAOS). After a Residency Program in Radiology and Atomic Medicine in Iraq, he worked with John Hopkins Hospital, USA, under an American Fellowship and with the University of London for a post-graduate Fellowship. After completing a successful career at Hammersmith Hospital, UK, where he made several special achievements, he accepted a senior teaching position as an Assistant Professor in the School of Medicine at UAE University. During this period, he was also inducted as an Examiner for the Asian Nuclear Medicine Board Certification (ANMB) in Japan, Korea, and the People’s Republic of China. He has conducted breakthrough interventions in radio-guided surgery, thyroid ablation with high-dose radioiodine, and bone density blood transfusion for thalassemia children. As the first Nuclear Medicine physician appointed in the UAE, he pioneered bone mineral densitometry in the UAE and received an award from the Emirates Medical Association. As a prolific writer and presenter on the subject in English and Arabic, he has actively promoted his medical specialty in seminars, panel discussions, interviews, international medical journals, and other forums. He is also a good mentor for upcoming medical professionals in their careers. At Burjeel Medical City, he is the Head of the Nuclear Medicine Department. Besides attending to the regular cases referred for nuclear medicine and densitometry investigations, he is also trusted to accurately diagnose and treat complicated and rare ailments that call for exceptional interventions in this highly specialized medical discipline.
