Book AppointmentBiography
Dr. Oussama Chaar is an internationally recognized orthopedic surgeon with more than 35 years of experience in hip and knee surgery, joint reconstruction, complex deformity correction, and advanced arthroplasty techniques. He obtained his MD degree from the University of Liège in 1984 and completed his Orthopaedic Surgery fellowship at the University Hospital of Liège in 1990 with the distinction of “High Excellency.” He also earned a diploma in Biomechanics from the Université Libre de Bruxelles and received the prestigious “Lejeune & Lechien” award for Best Scientific Research. For more than two decades, Dr. Chaar practiced as a Senior Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon in Belgium while also serving as a visiting surgeon in the Middle East. Since relocating to the UAE in 2014, he has held leading positions in both government and private healthcare institutions, including serving as Head of the Orthopedic Department at Burjeel Hospital. Dr. Chaar is internationally recognized for his pioneering contributions to joint replacement surgery and complex hip reconstruction. He founded a specialized center dedicated to hip and knee surgery and has successfully performed more than 18,000 hip and knee replacement procedures. Over many years, he developed an innovative technique for total hip replacement in patients with severe congenital hip dislocation (Crowe IV dysplasia). This technique enabled correction of leg length discrepancies of up to 11 cm without femoral shortening osteotomy a world-leading achievement exceeding previously reported limits in the medical literature. He has also developed advanced minimally invasive techniques in knee replacement surgery aimed at reducing postoperative pain, accelerating rehabilitation, and improving functional recovery. In addition, he introduced a hip-preserving minimally invasive surgical technique for selected young patients.
