Biography

Dr. Muhammad Hayek is a German board-certified neurosurgeon with extensive training and expertise in functional neurosurgery, spine surgery, neuromodulation, radiosurgery, and pain medicine. He obtained his license to practice medicine in 2007 after completing his medical degree and state examination at the University of Mannheim, Germany. Following this, Dr. Hayek began his neurosurgical residency at the Functional and Stereotactic Neurosurgery Center, University Hospital Freiburg, under the direction of Prof. Dr. Christoph Ostertag. From 2009 to 2014, he continued his residency in neurosurgery at the Klinikum Kassel, where he completed his training and achieved the German Board Certification in Neurosurgery in Frankfurt. In 2014, he received additional qualification in Emergency Medicine from the Medical Association of Hessen, Frankfurt. Between 2014 and 2016, Dr. Hayek served as Consultant for Neurosurgery at the University Hospital Magdeburg, specializing in stereotaxy, neuromodulation, radiosurgery, and neuro-oncology. He further expanded his expertise from 2016 to 2017 as Consultant for Neurosurgery and Spine Surgery at St. Marien Hospital in Helmstedt, an academic teaching hospital of the University Hospital Magdeburg. In 2019, Dr. Hayek earned an additional subspecialty qualification in Pain Medicine from the Medical Association of Hessen, Frankfurt. Since October 2018, he has been working as Senior Consultant for Neurosurgery, Spine Surgery, and Pain Medicine at Frankenberg Hospital, an academic teaching hospital of Philipps University of Marburg, Germany. Dr. Hayek’s clinical and scientific interests include advanced spine surgery, functional neurosurgery, stereotactic techniques, neuromodulation, radiosurgery, and multidisciplinary management of chronic pain.
