Professor Nashwa Bahaa El Din is a highly accomplished Professor of Pediatrics at Cairo University and Consultant Pediatrician with more than 35 years of distinguished clinical, academic, and leadership experience across Egypt and the United Arab Emirates.
She graduated from Cairo University, earning her MBBCh in 1989 and Master’s Degree in Pediatrics in 1995. She later obtained her Doctorate degree in Pediatric and Neonatal Medicine from Ain Shams University in 2005 and pursued advanced subspecialty training in Pediatric Endocrinology and Growth at Cairo University, where she continues to serve as a Consultant and academic faculty member.
Since relocating to Abu Dhabi in 2006, Professor Nashwa has played a pivotal role in advancing pediatric services within the UAE’s private healthcare sector. She currently serves as Head of the Pediatrics Department (3rd Floor) at Burjeel Hospital, where she leads a multidisciplinary team committed to delivering the highest standards of pediatric care.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Professor Nashwa served as the supervising pediatric physician responsible for the management and treatment of pediatric COVID-19 cases within the private healthcare sector in Abu Dhabi. She was at the forefront of caring for children throughout the first wave of the pandemic, while simultaneously leading clinical research that culminated in the publication of “Clinical and Laboratory Features of PCR-Confirmed and Clinically Suspected COVID-19 Pediatric Patients: A Single Hospital-Based Experience During the First COVID-19 Wave in the United Arab Emirates” in the internationally acclaimed journal Frontiers in Pediatrics. Her work has contributed valuable evidence to the global understanding of COVID-19 in children and continues to support evidence-based pediatric practice.
Professor Nashwa has authored and presented numerous scientific publications in pediatric endocrinology, growth disorders, obesity, and pediatric infectious diseases. Her research has been presented at prestigious international scientific meetings, and she completed advanced clinical training at Wilford Hall Medical Center, Texas, USA, further enriching her international clinical experience.
