Biography

Dr. Prasanna Karunakar Shetty is a renowned Consultant in the Department of Pediatrics with an overall experience of 15 years. In 2002, he completed his MBBS degree from Bangalore Medical College, India, where he also did his one-year internship. Dr. Prasanna further pursued his MD in Pediatrics from the Vijayanagar Institute of Medical Sciences, Bellary, India. In addition to this, he also passed the MRPCH (Member of the Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health) examination held in 2019. Dr. Prasanna began his post-graduation career journey in 2003 with postings in various departments, including pediatric neurology, psychiatry, NICU, and general pediatrics, of renowned hospitals. He also worked as a Registrar in the PICU/NICU of Manipal Hospital Bangalore for a few months in 2006, after which he worked as a Consultant Pediatrician in a renowned hospital in Hubli, Karnataka, India for five and a half years. In 2013, Dr. Prasanna moved to Abu Dhabi where he worked as a Specialist Pediatrician in NMC Specialty Hospital for 8 years before moving to Burjeel Day Surgery Center. Dr. Prasanna is registered with the Karnataka Medical Council, India; the Medical Council of India, Department of Health Abu Dhabi, UAE; and the Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health, UK. He also holds Memberships in various renowned bodies, including Member of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics, Member of the Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health, Member of Indian Medical Association, and Member of the National Neonatology Forum, India. Adding to his knowledge, Dr. Prasanna has also attended various additional courses such as Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation Program, Ventilation Workshop, and Basic Life Support. His publication is “A Case Report on Neonatal Chikungunya” which was published in Pediatric Oncall Journal in December 2010.
