A highly accomplished physician-scientist, Dr. Al Zaki specializes in CAR T-cell therapy and advanced immunotherapies, offering innovative, bloodless, and personalized treatments for complex hematologic malignancies, including leukemias, lymphomas, multiple myeloma, myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), and myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs).  

With two decades of education, clinical practice, and research in the United States, he has trained and worked at leading institutions. Dr. Al Zaki earned his MD from the George Washington University School of Medicine, where he was the first Emirati inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Stanford University School of Medicine, where he was a member of the Translational Investigator Physician-Scientist Program and pursued a Hematology and Oncology Fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he received the Waun Ki Hong Award for Achievement in Basic Science Research. He also holds a PhD in Bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Scholar and received the Solomon Pollack Award for Excellence in Bioengineering Research. Additionally, he earned a BS in Chemical Engineering with Honors and Highest Distinction from Purdue University. 

A recipient of numerous accolades, Dr. Al Zaki’s academic excellence has also been acknowledged in the UAE with the Rashid Award for Scientific Outstanding (2015) and the Al Jalila Foundation Research Award. He is additionally a Khalifa University Buhooth Scholar. 

Dr. Al Zaki is recognized as one of the most experienced CAR-T specialists in the region. He has extensive experience in clinical trial design and was co-primary investigator on multiple trials during his time at MD Anderson, where he also held an academic appointment as Instructor in the Department of Lymphoma/Myeloma and Cancer Systems Imaging. His research focuses on immunotherapy-related adverse events, molecular imaging, and novel lymphoma treatment strategies.  

Dr. Al Zaki has led and collaborated on several high-impact research grants, with support from prominent institutions such as the National Institutes of Health and the National Cancer Institute. Through his pioneering work and compassionate approach, he continues to redefine the standards of hematology-oncology care in the region.
