Biography

Dr. Sunil GT is a fellowship-trained Consultant Ophthalmologist with over 23 years of experience in glaucoma and cataract care. He earned his MBBS from the Medical College, Trivandrum, University of Kerala, India, in 1995. Following this, he completed his master’s degree in Ophthalmology (MS) at the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, Madras Medical College, India, in 2001. In the same year, Dr. Sunil pursued advanced training through the Sir Ratan Tata Fellowship, focusing on basic and advanced cataract surgery, particularly in phacoemulsification, at the Medical Research Foundation, Sankara Nethralaya, India. He further enhanced his expertise with a long-term glaucoma fellowship at the renowned LV Prasad Eye Institute in Hyderabad, India, in 2003. Dr. Sunil is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in Glasgow, UK, and holds memberships in the International Council of Ophthalmology (UK) and the American College of Surgeons (FACS). He also completed training in refractive surgery at the New Vision Laser Centre – Centre for Sight, India, in 2015. Throughout his career, Dr. Sunil has held prominent positions in various esteemed medical institutions. Notably, he served as an Associate Consultant in glaucoma and cataract services at the prestigious Medical Research Foundation, Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai, for four years, beginning in 2005. His contributions to ophthalmology extend beyond clinical practice; he has co-authored several research articles published in peer-reviewed journals and has actively participated in numerous local and international conferences.
