UAE doctors brace for scorching heatwave with temperatures set to hit 50°C, urging residents to take precautions
UAE doctors warn beachgoers and residents to take precautions in the summer heat, as temperatures in the country begin to soar to over 40°C.
“Heat stroke is a very serious risk in this kind of weather. The patient may suddenly lose consciousness and collapse and their blood pressure might drop. This is one issue we face frequently [at the hospital], ”warned Dr. Fadi Baladi of Abu Dhabi’s Burjeel Day Surgery Centre, Al Reem Island.
Extreme summer temperatures in the UAE
This comes a day after the UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology announced that temperatures would hit 50°C this week. But these scorching temperatures are not uncommon in the UAE during the approach of the summer months. The risk of heat-related health issues is very high during the summer months in the UAE, especially as regular beachgoers continue to spend their days at the beach or by the pool without adequately preparing for it.
