Dr. Juan Abdulkarim Mela Darwesh earned his MBBS from the University of Damascus in Syria in 2006. He completed his General and Laparoscopic Surgery residency at Damascus University Hospitals, specifically at Assad University Hospital and Mowassat University Hospital, concurrently with the Arab Board Residency program from 2007 to 2012. Following his residency, Dr. Darwesh served as a General Surgery Specialist in the Surgical Department at Al Rasheed Hospital in Damascus from 2012 to 2013, before leaving Syria. In September 2013, Dr. Darwesh was appointed as a Surgical Registrar at Al-Adan Hospital in Kuwait. After completing his Arab Board certification, he advanced to Senior Registrar positions, a role he held until his resignation in July 2019. Al-Adan Hospital, one of the largest general governmental hospitals in Kuwait, boasts over 900 beds and provides medical services to more than 1,000,000 people. Its surgical department, a crucial unit within the hospital, includes 120 beds, offers 10 theater sessions per week, and operates a 24-hour emergency theater. It is also recognized as the only Trauma Center in Kuwait. Dr. Darwesh’s journey in the United Arab Emirates began at Fujairah Ministry Hospital, where he served as a Specialist in General Surgery from 2019 to 2022. He then transitioned to Oriana Hospital in Sharjah as a Consultant General and Bariatric Surgeon. There, he successfully completed a two-year contract from March 2022 to February 2024 before joining Burjeel Holdings.
