Biography

Dr. Rasha Elhadi Elamin Ahmed completed her MBBS from the University of Gezira, Sudan, and the subsequent medical internship and residency training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics and Orthopaedics at the Medani Teaching Hospital, Sudan. Following these qualifications, Dr. Rasha completed the first part of the examination for the Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in the United Kingdom. Starting her career back in her home country, Sudan, Dr. Rasha Ahmed worked as Medical Officer at the Gezira Hospital of Renal Diseases and Surgery for one year. She worked in the Abu-Agla Diabetic Center, Elsaim Hospital, Medani Sudan. During her stint in these hospitals, Dr. Rasha became well-versed in working as GP in an out-patient clinic, caring for patients with diabetes and other medical problems, establishing their diagnoses, and starting treatment for simple cases. She also conducted several referrals with macro or microvascular complications; evidence of ischemic heart diseases, cerebrovascular accident and renal impairment, cases with uncontrolled diabetes mellitus, as well as diabetic patients with ophthalmic problems such as cataract, glaucoma, infection, and similar complications, among other conditions. Working at Elsaim Ophthalmic Hospital, Dr. Rasha’s exposure was to the skills of tonometry, fundoscopy, fundus photography, gonioscopy, slit-lamp examination, corneal topography, and perimetry. She was directly responsible for managing and performing all procedures for the patients and in following up on cases that needed surgery and in the referred and emergency cases. Earlier at the Gezira Hospital, Dr. Rasha was in charge of the ER and ICU duties and covered several critical cases of pulmonary edema, myocardial infarction, GI bleeding, CVA, urine retention, and a host of other medical difficulties. She also handled several cases of kidney transplant surgery preparations and similar advanced medical cases. She moved to the UAE in 2015 and joined Burjeel Medical Center, Al Shahama, before joining Burjeel Day Surgery Center- Al Reem Island.
