Biography

Dr. Ossama Barakat graduated from the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine, London, in 1999. He underwent his internal medicine training at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, where he obtained his MRCP in 2002. He then took a post as a Research Fellow between 2002 and 2004 to study the prevalence and incidence of diabetic eye disease in the population of East Anglia, following this he obtained a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in Diabetes, Endocrinology and Internal General Medicine in 2008 at the Cambridge Deanery. Dr. Ossama has worked in many UK-based hospitals, such as Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, Imperial College London NHS Trust, Wexham Park, Durham University Hospital, and The Hillingdon NHS Trust. His last post was as a Consultant Diabetologist and Endocrinologist at Imperial College London Diabetes Center in Abu Dhabi before joining Burjeel Day Surgery Center in Al Reem Island, Abu Dhabi. As an experienced Consultant Endocrinologist with a strong commitment to evidence-based practice, Dr. Ossama has an outstanding background of clinical excellence in all aspects of diabetes, endocrinology, and internal medicine. He possesses great experience in dealing with what is widely regarded as one of the world’s most pressing healthcare challenges. His expertise includes Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes services, obesity and metabolism disorders, general thyroid disorder, thyroid disorder in pregnancy, osteoporosis, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia management in high-risk patients.
