Biography

Ms. Mai A. A. Yaghi has 12 years of great clinical experience in Abu Dhabi, working in school health, public health and screening, intraoperative and postoperative care, and telemedicine. She began working as a diabetes nurse educator in Burjeel Hospital’s inpatient and outpatient departments in 2020, obtaining valuable expertise in diabetes self-management and support. She has prior expertise working with school pupils and people of determination (POD). She finished a one-year certified diabetes education course at Imperial College London Diabetes Center and is a trained pump trainer for both Roche and Medtronic insulin pumps accessible in the UAE. She assists diabetic patients in managing their food, lifestyle, and insulin doses in order to reverse, or manage their diabetes and increase their time in range as much as possible. She teaches patients carbohydrate counting in order to employ dose adjustment for normal eating (DAFNE). She practices and teaches the insertion and pairing of continuous glucose monitors (CGM) with mobile phones. She employs a multidisciplinary approach to individualize patients’ care plans by addressing their psychological and physical requirements. She also teaches people who are obese how to correctly inject themselves with GLP1 injections in order to lose the most weight. Her areas of specialization include the following:
