Biography

Dr. Omer Alawad Homaida Abdelfadiel is a Consultant Endocrinologist at Burjeel Royal Hospital in Al Ain. He graduated from the University of Khartoum, Sudan, where he completed his primary training in Internal Medicine.  Dr. Omer holds a Subspecialty Certificate in Endocrinology and Metabolism from the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa (CMSA) and an MPhil in Endocrinology from the University of Cape Town. His passion for endocrinology led him to South Africa, where he completed his fellowship in Endocrinology at Groote Schuur Hospital and the University of Cape Town. Additionally, he has earned the MRCP (UK) Specialty Certificate in Endocrinology and Diabetes and is certified by the European Board in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism. He also holds the Strategic Centre for Obesity Professional Education (SCOPE) Certificate from the World Obesity Federation. Before joining Burjeel, Dr. Omer gained extensive experience in the UAE healthcare system, including six years with Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) and 3.5 years with Emirates Health Services (EHS). This experience has equipped him with valuable skills in managing a wide range of medical conditions within his field. His dedication to advancing patient care is evident through his commitment to evidence-based practices and continuous professional development, ensuring the highest standard of care and improved patient outcomes. Dr. Omer specializes in managing various endocrine disorders, with a focus on diabetes, obesity, lipid disorders, thyroid disorders, parathyroid and calcium disorders, adrenal gland disorders, pituitary disorders, osteoporosis, and other metabolic bone diseases. Throughout his career, Dr. Omer has developed vast expertise in treating complex endocrine disorders.
