Dr. Omer Alawad Homaida Abdelfadiel is a Consultant Endocrinologist at Burjeel Royal Hospital in Al Asharij. He graduated from the University of Khartoum in Sudan, where he completed his primary training in Internal Medicine. Driven by his passion for endocrinology, he relocated to South Africa, where he completed his fellowship training in Endocrinology at the University of Cape Town and Groote Schuur Hospital. Dr. Omer holds a Subspecialty Certificate in Endocrinology and Metabolism from the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa (CMSA) and an MPhil in Endocrinology from the University of Cape Town. He has also earned the MRCP (UK) Specialty Certificate in Endocrinology and Diabetes and is certified by the European Board in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism. Additionally, he holds the SCOPE Certificate from the World Obesity Federation. Before joining Burjeel, Dr. Omer gained extensive experience in the UAE healthcare system, including six years with Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) and three and a half years with Emirates Health Services (EHS). This experience has equipped him with valuable skills in managing a wide range of medical conditions in his field.
Dr. Omer’s expertise includes managing various endocrine disorders, with a focus on diabetes, obesity, thyroid, parathyroid and calcium disorders, adrenal and pituitary disorders, as well as osteoporosis and other metabolic bone diseases. Throughout his career, Dr. Omer has gained significant experience in treating complex endocrine disorders.
