Biography

Dr. Bassel Safi is an American Board-Certified Consultant Vascular Surgeon with over 42 years of clinical experience. Dr. Bassel obtained his M.D. in Medicine and Surgery from the College of Medicine at Damascus University, Syria, in 1973. He then pursued his internship and residency in General Surgery in Cleveland, Ohio, USA in 1975 followed by his Fellowship in Vascular Surgery from Memphis, Tennessee in USA, in 1980. He holds a Board Certification in General Surgery and Vascular Surgery. After working for 15 years in Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Bassel relocated to UAE in 1995 and was associated with a reputed government hospital in Dubai where he established and held the position of the Head of Vascular Surgery for 9 years. To widen his experience further, Dr. Bassel joined King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 2004 where he headed the Vascular Surgery Section for the following 4 years. Dr. Bassel moved back to UAE in 2008 and spent a significant number of years in Al Ain at a renowned government hospital where he handled multiple responsibilities as the Chief of Vascular Surgery Division, Director of the Diabetic Foot Care Program, Director of the Hemo-Dialysis Access program, Director of the Vascular Lab and Director of Quality and Patient Safety in the Surgical Department. Prior to joining Burjeel Day Surgery Center, Al Reem Island, Dr. Bassel practised at Burjeel Hospital, Abu Dhabi from 2017. His interests mainly include the treatment of Varicose Veins, Diabetic Foot Problems, Leg Circulation problems, Stroke Prevention and all Arterial Diseases.
