Dr. Ahmed Al Mazrouei is a distinguished Consultant General Surgeon and retired military medical commander with over two decades of experience spanning the UAE, France, and international humanitarian operations. He is French Board–certified (DES) in General Surgery and trained at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, specializing in general, laparoscopic, and trauma surgery. Al Mazrouei completed his medical education in Dublin, Ireland, earning his L.R.C.P. & S.I., M.B., B.Ch., B.A.O. from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2001, before undertaking specialist and resident training across leading Parisian institutions, including Hôpital Beaujon, Hôpital Saint-Antoine, Hôpital Européen Georges-Pompidou, and Hôpital d’Instruction des Armées Percy, where he trained in digestive, oncologic, transplant, hepatic, thoracic, and general surgery. In 2015, he obtained his Diplôme d’Études Spécialisées (DES) in General Surgery from the French Board in Paris. Since 2016, Al Mazrouei has served as Consultant in the Department of General Surgery at Zayed Military Hospital in Abu Dhabi, where he performs advanced laparoscopic and open general surgeries, leads continuous quality improvement and clinical safety initiatives, and supervises the postgraduate surgical training program; in 2023, he was appointed Head of the General Surgery Department, aligning departmental practice with international surgical and patient safety standards. Alongside his hospital practice, Al Mazrouei has held senior military medical leadership roles, including Commander of a Forward Surgical Team and Deputy Commander of a Military Field Hospital during the Yemen mission, directing multidisciplinary field hospital operations, trauma triage, and surgical logistics under conflict conditions. He has also undertaken numerous humanitarian deployments, including service as a field surgeon during earthquake relief efforts in Turkey, and as commander of field hospitals established for conflict-affected populations in Chad and Gaza. Al Mazrouei has completed extensive advanced training in trauma and combat surgery, including ASSET, Damage Control Surgery, BATLS, ATLC, and ETCC courses, alongside disaster management and critical care training. He is fluent in Arabic, English, and French, and is a member of the UAE Medical Organization and the UAE Red Crescent’s Humanitarian Surgical Missions.
