Biography

Dr. Fayeza Alrais is a distinguished UAE national physician who graduated with an MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) degree from the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at UAE University in 1997, after completing seven years of medical schooling. In 2003, she embarked on her postgraduate residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the prestigious McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Dr. Alrais obtained her Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) in Obstetrics and Gynecology after five years of rigorous training at the McGill University Health Centre, including the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal. In 2008, Dr. Alrais pursued fellowship training in Maternal and Fetal Medicine at the University of Ottawa, in the capital city of Ottawa, Canada. During her fellowship, she further specialized in Fetal Cardiology with additional training at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), in the United States. While at UCSF, she contributed to her first publication, a major reference in the field of congenital heart disease in monochorionic twins. Concurrently, during her time in Ottawa, Dr. Alrais collaborated with the UAE Embassy to help establish the Cultural Bureau, which serves as the supervisory body for UAE students pursuing postgraduate education in Canada. Upon returning from Canada, Dr. Alrais joined a leading hospital in Dubai and engaged in private practice before relocating to Al Ain city for social reasons. In 2011, she joined Tawam Hospital, where she has served as a Tier-1 Consultant in Maternal-Fetal Medicine for over 12 years, until January 2024. Her clinical service primarily focuses on high-risk obstetrical cases, including care for pregnant patients with chronic and complicated medical conditions, such as maternal cardiac and renal diseases, organ transplant cases, malignancies, and problematic fetal conditions including congenital anomalies, complicated multiple gestations, placental dysfunctions, and cases requiring fetal interventions. Dr. Alrais maintains collaborative ties with internationally renowned experts in Fetal Medicine and High-Risk Obstetrics in Canada and the United States, facilitating consultations on the most challenging and rare cases. Over the last two decades, she has assessed and managed more than 20,000 cases of complicated obstetrical and problematic fetal conditions, showcasing her extensive experience and dedication to maternal and fetal health.
