Dr. Nikolaos Koutsostathis, MD, PhD Allergist and Clinical Immunologist

Dr. Nikolaos Koutsostathis is a double board–certified Allergist & Clinical Immunologist with over 16 years of experience managing a comprehensive range of allergic and immunologic disorders in both adults and children. He has extensive clinical and academic experience in leading European and Middle Eastern healthcare institutions and has practiced in Greece, Saudi Arabia, and currently Dubai, UAE. He completed his medical degree at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece, and went on to specialize in Allergy and Clinical Immunology after rigorous national examinations. He holds a PhD in the field of hereditary angioedema from the University of Thessaly and is recognized for his contributions to the national registry of hereditary angioedema patients in Greece. Dr. Koutsostathis obtained the European Certificate of Excellence from the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI), along with specialist certifications in Greece and across the European Union. As part of his academic training, Dr. Koutsostathis completed fellowships in leading allergy and immunology departments at major hospitals, including Henry Dunant General Hospital (Athens), Laiko General Hospital (Athens), and King Salman Specialist Hospital (Saudi Arabia). Since 2020, he has served as a Consultant Allergist at a prestigious clinic in Dubai, following previous appointments at multiple well-reputed hospitals in the city. He also holds DHA and DOH/HAAD licensure to practice in the United Arab Emirates. Dr. Koutsostathis specializes in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of conditions, including allergic rhinitis, asthma, chronic urticaria, angioedema, food and drug allergies, atopic dermatitis, and other allergic diseases. His clinical expertise includes skin prick and intradermal testing, spirometry, drug and food provocation tests, allergen immunotherapy (subcutaneous and sublingual), and desensitization protocols for complex cases. He is an expert advisor on the use of biologic therapies such as omalizumab and advanced treatments for hereditary angioedema. As a consultant, he provides advanced care in acute anaphylaxis management and in the investigation of hypereosinophilia, mastocytosis, and exercise-induced or idiopathic anaphylaxis.

Dr. Koutsostathis is the author of 10 publications in prominent international medical journals and has presented his research at leading European and international congresses. He has been actively involved in professional societies, serving as Secretary of the Hellenic Society of Angioedema and Treasurer of the Hellenic Scientific Society for Rare Diseases & Orphan Drugs. He is also a long-standing member of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) and the Hellenic Society for Allergology and Clinical Immunology. He has received awards at Pan-Hellenic and European congresses for his work. Throughout his career, Dr. Koutsostathis has demonstrated a strong commitment to continuing medical education by participating in numerous workshops, congresses, and postgraduate programs in allergy and immunology across Europe.
