Biography

Dr. Bharat Sapra is a Senior Consultant with 25 years of extensive experience in medicine, specializing in Gastroenterology in Abu Dhabi. A Gold medalist during his studies, Dr. Bharat completed his doctorate in Gastroenterology from the prestigious PGIMER in Chandigarh, India. He previously served as a Senior Professor and Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist at SMS Medical College in Jaipur, India. Before joining Burjeel Medical City in Abu Dhabi, he was a Consultant at NMC Royal Hospital in Dubai. Dr. Bharat’s expertise spans both adult and pediatric endoscopy (for patients over 8 years of age), ERCP (Pancreato-Biliary), EUS (Linear and Radial), and therapeutic gastro-duodenoscopy. He is also skilled in Colonoscopy, Cholangioscopy, pH metry, manometry, and FibroScan. Dr. Bharat is certified by the Royal College of Physicians and the British Society of Gastroenterology after successfully passing the European Specialty Examination in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. With extensive experience in high-volume ERCP, performing around 400 cases annually, and training in linear EUS, where he handles approximately 120 cases per year, Dr. Bharat is a distinguished teacher and examiner. He has trained over fifty post-doctoral fellows in clinical gastroenterology and therapeutic endoscopy from across India. Dr. Bharat has organized, attended, and delivered keynotes at numerous state and national gastroenterology conferences in India and holds life memberships in ISG, INASAL, SGEI, and API. He has published 35 articles in leading clinical medicine journals and is highly skilled in diagnosing and managing GI oncology, hepatology, pancreato-biliary diseases, IBDs, and a wide range of luminal GI issues such as heartburn, acid reflux, bloating, gas, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, changes in bowel habits, unexplained weight loss, rectal bleeding, and jaundice.
