Dr. Ayman Shouman is a highly distinguished Professor of Ophthalmology with over 34 years of extensive clinical, surgical, and academic experience. He serves in the Surgical Vitreoretinal Department at the Research Institute of Ophthalmology (RIO), Cairo, Egypt, and is recognized internationally for his expertise in vitreoretinal surgery, cataract surgery, glaucoma procedures, refractive surgery, and retinal disease management. Dr. Shouman graduated from Cairo University Faculty of Medicine, completed his ophthalmology residency at RIO-Cairo, earned a Master’s degree in Ophthalmology from Ain Shams University, and a PhD from Cairo University. He completed a Fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery at Frankfurt University, Germany, holds a Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (FRCS), and serves on the Examiner Board of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He has practiced across Egypt, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and the UAE, and continues his academic contributions as a Visiting Professor at RIO-Cairo. His clinical expertise includes advanced vitreoretinal surgeries, retinal laser therapy, premium cataract surgery, complex glaucoma procedures, LASIK and refractive surgery, intraocular injections, pediatric retinal care, and uveitis management.
