Biography

Dr. Marelize Bosman is a Pediatric Cardiologist who has been practicing for more than 15 years. She obtained her primary medical qualification (MBChB) from the University of Pretoria, followed by a Fellowship in Paediatrics from the College of Paediatricians (FCPaed). After working as a Consultant Pediatrician, she followed her passion and completed a Fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology in South Africa (Cert Cardio (SA) Paed). She is experienced in diagnosing, managing, and long-term care of neonatal and pediatric patients with congenital and acquired heart disease. She is proficient in managing patients in their illness’s acute and chronic phases from birth through adolescence. She specializes in echocardiography, electrocardiograms, in-hospital and outpatient assessment and care, interventional cardiology, pediatric palliative care, and counseling. She has been involved in screening clinics, pre-and post-op care, helping families navigate caring for children with heart disease, and working within an interdisciplinary framework to provide the best care for all heart warriors. She has a special interest in palliative care and is still involved in education about chronic medical conditions and palliative care in her home country. Dr. Marelize was an honorary lecturer in pediatrics at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and a coordinator for the training of pediatric fellows. She has been actively involved with teaching and training fellows and medical students in South Africa. Before joining Burjeel Medical City, Abu Dhabi, Dr. Marelize Bosman served as a Pediatric Cardiologist at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital, South Africa, as well as in the private sector in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu Natal.
